Component grouping is a logical way to group COM objects and controls that work together. Some functionality can not be achieved using a single object, so vendors create multiple objects that work together to get the job done. For example ADO (Active Data Objects) is a group of objects namely the connection object, record set object, command object, and others. The benefit to grouping the objects together is the ability to describe the functionality of the objects accurately. For example, without grouping it would be hard to understand how the ADO objects together to become a complete data access solution.

AspUpload is an Active Server component which enables an ASP application to accept, save and manipulate files uploaded with a browser. The files are uploaded via an HTML POST form using RFC 1867. AspUpload can then manipulate the uploaded files in a number of ways which include ACL manipulation, attribute changes, saving to a database, and ActiveX DLL registration.

AspCodeLock will dynamically decode the script when requested by IIS and execute it under the ASP environment. Your ASP code is processed in memory and is not written unencrypted to disk by AspCodeLock

Freeware forward and reverse DNS lookup component with Timeout Control.

It works by making a UDP request directly to a proper DNS Server. It also provides the programmer with the capability to say how much time the server should be given to perform the requested DNS resolution. The cookie engine is a component that generates unique primary keys to use as cookies to identify a user. This component is free and was documented and discussed in an Apr 22, 1997 article of 15 Seconds entitled: Active Server Components with VS 5.0.

There are two main aspects of csImageFile. The first is to resize images, usually to produce thumbnails. The JPG compression can be changed as well. There are a lot of web applications where users can submit their own images, and they will need to be shrunk in size. csImageFile allows you to perform this operation from a script, which is essential to automate the process.

A random session key is generated each time a string is encrypted; The session key is then encrypted with the public algorithm and appended to the encrypted string. Xcripter is a framework for database driven Internet code generation, such as ASP, HTML, and JavaScript.

Xcripter produces the table schema in XML format; an ASP Script that list the table; the form associated with the table in HTML and with a lot of javascript validations.

QuiLogic's XML IFilter enables the crawling and indexing of documents containing arbitrary structured XML data and extends the standard functionality of IIS Site Server, Microsoft Share Point Portal Server (SPS), and all other products based on top of Microsoft Indexing Service Technology. A visual RAD Designer is included for developing indexing solutions without coding. The Enterprise edition contains full C++ Source code for the IFilter implementation.

XMLCheck is a Visual Interdev add-in that allows you to check your XML or XSL files for errors within the Visual Interdev environment. It uses the Microsoft MSXML Parser to load your file and report any errors using the information held in the "parseError" fields of the document object. The errors are reported in separate window which can be docked to the main Interdev frame window.

XP_Crypt is an extended stored procedure for Microsoft SQL Server 7. When given a string, the procedure returns an MD5 hash. This is very useful for storing data that you don't need to decrypt, such as user passwords or validation phrases. Once encrypted, the data cannot be decrypted, but you can compare it with other encrypted data to see if it matches. This way, even if someone gains access to your database, they still won't be able to steal any passwords.

This is a Microsoft Transaction Server enabled component that gives you access to information about Windows NT user groups and accounts. It encapsulates chosen parts (eg. permission checking) of the Microsoft ADSI 2.0 NTLM provider.

xPop3 is an Active Server component that retrieves mail from Pop3 servers. It supports ISO-8859-1 characters and also handles quoted-printable encoded mail. The current version does not support attatchments. It was built for use with Microsoft IIS and ASP but can also be used from any programming language that supports OLE Automation such as Delphi or Visual Basic.

XSLTransform makes it much easier to carry out transformations that 'pre-process' your XML documents. Better than that, it can create the results as disk files - which means that you can batch process your XML to the preferred output quickly and easily, on demand if required. This vastly reduces the processing load on your server.

XStandard XHTML WYSIWYG editor

XStandard is an ActiveX plug-in designed for integration into browser or Windows-based content management systems. It creates a WYSIWYG editing area where business authors manage rich content in any language. XStandard is the first WYSIWYG editor to generate XHTML 1.1 markup. It supports tables, lists, links, floats, and custom tags. CSS are used for formatting and are referenced through an intuitive drop-down menu. A Screen Reader Preview helps authors adjust content for accessibility. Version 1.2 of XStandard supports more CSS properties and XHTML tags, has a customizable toolbar, 6 interface languages, bug fixes and support for decorative images. XStandard "Lite" is free and can be used in production apps. at no cost. XStandard "Pro" has all the features of the Lite version, plus a spell checker and enhanced Web services (SOAP), which allow authors to drag-&-drop files into the editor and to reference shared files in remote libraries. xTree is an Active Server component that mimmics a tree structure, like the explorer in WIN95 or NT. It expands and collapses depending on user interaction and generates pure HTML. The information that is to be presented can either be loaded from file or added dynamically. Tree members can be either of folder- or item-type. A tree can contain many folders and each folder can contain many items. The current version does not support nested folders. The component was built for use with Microsoft IIS and ASP.

Zaks.Directory returns the details of a selected directory as a collection of objects, full file properties are returned include size, creation date, last write date, last access date, archive, system, readonly and hidden flags.

Zaks.POP3 is an Active Server Page component written in Java for reading POP3 email accounts.

ZBitz is a COM component (DLL) to Zip and Unzip files from your ASP or any COM enabled code.

Main features include compressing and uncompressing industry standard zip files with one function call; working with password protected zip files; compressing multiple files with wild cards; fully supporting recursion; controlling compression level; extensive error handling; cross-platform converting for ASCII files.
